Temporary Project Accountant (6 month Fixed Term) • Texmo Blank

  • We are seeking a temporary Project Accountant to support our finance team at our Germany facility. This is a 6 month fixed-term opportunity suited to a candidate looking for a temporary placement in a manufacturing environment. In addition to local candidates, we would consider UK based candidates on a secondment basis, subject to local VISA requirements and the position may also suit recently qualified candidates, including those looking to leave practice with eagerness to demonstrate ability in Industrial Manufacturing, with coaching provided.

    The successful candidate will play a key role in month-end close, financial reporting and day-to-day accounting activities, and additional ad hoc project work while also supporting process stability following the recent ERP migration from SAP to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. As this is a manufacturing business, strong understanding of inventory accounting and product costing is essential.

  • Financial reporting and month-end close
    • Prepare monthly financial statements in accordance with German GAAP (HGB).
    • Ensure month-end close is completed to enable KPIs to be disseminated by 10th working day of the following month.
    • Maintain accurate accounting records and complete balance sheet reconciliations.
    • Manage accruals and prepayments, including calculation, posting and reconciliation.
    Management and group reporting
    • Produce ad hoc financial reporting and analysis for the UK finance organisation.
    • Support internal reporting requirements and provide financial information to local management as required.
    Day-to-day accounting
    • Carry out day-to-day accounting activities, with a particular focus on Accounts Payable.
    • Support accurate transaction processing, invoice handling, reconciliations and resolution of accounting queries.
    Inventory and manufacturing accounting
    • Support inventory accounting, including valuation, inventory movement analysis and reconciliations.
    • Work closely with operations and supply chain teams to ensure accurate financial treatment of inventory and manufacturing-related transactions.
    • Help maintain strong financial controls over stock and manufacturing accounting processes.
    ERP, controls and process improvement
    • Support process governance and change management following the recent ERP migration from SAP to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
    • Help identify process gaps, improve controls and support consistent finance procedures during the post-migration stabilisation period.
    • Assist with continuous improvement of finance processes and reporting.
    VAT and fixed assets
    • Support local VAT accounting, including accurate treatment of transactions, reconciliations and preparation of VAT-related information as required.
    • Maintain the fixed asset register, including additions, disposals, transfers, depreciation postings and reconciliations.
    • Ensure fixed asset accounting is accurate and aligned with company policy and statutory requirements.

    • Previous experience in a Management Accountant or similar finance role.
    • Strong knowledge of UK and/or German GAAP (HGB) and month-end financial reporting requirements.
    • Experience in a manufacturing environment, with solid understanding of inventory accounting, inventory movements analysis, valuation and reconciliations.
    • Good working knowledge of Accounts Payable and day-to-day financial accounting processes.
    • Experience managing accruals, prepayments, reconciliations and month-end close activities.
    • Experience working with ERP systems; knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central would be highly advantageous.
    • Ability to support process improvements and work effectively in a business adapting to recent system change.
    • Strong analytical skills and high attention to detail.
    • Good communication skills, with the ability to liaise with both local teams in Germany and the UK finance organisation.
    • Strong Excel skills and confidence handling financial data and reports.
    • Fluency in English is required; German language skills would be highly beneficial.
    • Relevant accounting qualification or equivalent practical experience preferred.
